My toddler and I braved a snowstorm to go to the opening night of the auto show. Sadly, fewer and fewer manufacturers present, but the Porsche Club chapter and the Corvette Club chapter helped fill the room.
Highlights? Subaru brought dogs that need homes, there was a beautiful Ferrari 330 GT, Acura brought an NSX (but would not let us sit in it), Toyota brought a Supra (but would not let us sit in it), Lexus brought the LC (and let us sit in it!), Alfa Romeo had a race stimulation for a Stelvio Quadrifoglio, Chevrolet brought a C8-which is really perfect, and Porsche Club of St. Louis had a beautiful 1978 SC.
Disappointments? No cars from BMW, Porsche, Audi, Land Rover, Mercedes Benz, Cadillac, or Jaguar. Ford did not bring the new electric Mustang (but per their booth, it will be in Chicago & Kansas City.) And Alfa forgot to bring the 4C. The representative told me it is because they only sold 200 in North America.
Sheesh.

Subaru bringing in rescue dogs is incredibly on brand and I love it.

I’ve seen that blue Porsche thrashed around gateway on the Porsche club track day a few years ago.

Looks like a lot of fun! You never know what random other stuff will be at an auto show; last time I went to the Atlanta International Autoshow, there was a GM Futureliner! Now that I think about it, that show didn’t have a 4C in the Alfa booth either, though I’ve seen two of them on the road.
EDIT: I lik e how that last picture is just a Porshe surrounded by lifted golf carts

ha ha, good catch. As soon as the PCA and Corvette club areas ended it was 100 yards of golf carts before the Ford display. Very random.
That poor 356 coupe deserves to be in front, but instead the front was a 944.

That sounds glorious. I know for sure I’ve seen the Blue GT4 parked in south city.
I’m hoping to have something parked as part of the PCA display next year!

Best color and spec (round lights) on the Avanti, which got into the C-pillar upkick/reverse slant decades before modern cloned designs, and wears it better, too.

Is the adopt a dog a car show thing? Because they do that here in Dallas too.
That sucks that so many makers didn’t show up. What’s worse is when someone like Aston Martin brings cars but puts them 20 feet behind ropes. I get closer to them when they put them in Northpark Mall.

That’s a great plate on that 911. “Tsch

Good of the car clubs to fill the void. Really is a bummer for the next generation of gearheads that participation in
auto shows is dwindling...

That is good Parsh.
I think that 911 color may be Petrol Blue... one of my very favorites.
And that early IROC/RSR/930 style small whale-tail wing is also one of my favorites.
I so badly wish there were a modern version of that to bolt onto the engine lid of a 996 or 997. Not huge and bulky like most aftermarket whale-tails, and not just the usual RS duck-tail flip-up spoiler, which is good, but a bit over-done.
those early whale-tails were thin, nicely cantilevered, and not overly long or wide, but still served to extend the car’s shoulder line to the back of the car, from where it starts all the way forward at the top of the headlights.
